Sensor Technology Helps Automotive Industry Innovation

Sensor Technology Helps Automotive Industry Innovation In recent years, the level of automation in the domestic automobile manufacturing industry has increased significantly, with obvious trends in improving assembly accuracy and improving production efficiency. As a positioning and detection method, a variety of sensors have been popularized in all aspects of the production line, especially the inductive sensors widely used by the depot to locate and monitor the running status of the entire line in real time.

Inductive sensors, everyone is not unfamiliar, is the use of electromagnetic induction to measure the physical quantities such as displacement, pressure, flow, vibration, etc. into the coil of the self-inductance coefficient and mutual inductance change, and then by the circuit into voltage or current Change output, non-electricity to power conversion. Because the Hall effect is mainly used to complete the detection, it is also called a Hall sensor.

Its internal structure consists of two parts: the front end is composed of a winding core that surrounds the transmitting and receiving coils; the rear end is the circuit part, and the whole is encapsulated in a plastic or metal casing. During operation, an alternating magnetic field occurs in the core part of the electromagnet, and an eddy current effect is generated on the surface of the nearby metal object, thereby weakening the LC oscillation circuit. The amplifying circuit partially analyzes the change of the weak LC oscillation circuit of the receiving coil of the electromagnetic core and gives the corresponding output.

Selecting the right sensor will greatly increase the stability and reliability of the equipment operation. It also has the greatest potential to reduce the failure or damage of the sensor and reduce unnecessary maintenance investment. In the production process of automobile manufacturing, a large number of inductive sensors are used as positioning and detection. How to select the most suitable product for this industry is particularly important.

The selection of this series of sensors mainly considers two factors:

(1) Far-distance detection distance: There is sometimes a certain vibration in the motion of sliding in the movement, and the sensor needs to have a certain detection distance to ensure that the measured portion of the warping cannot be damaged due to the vibration leaving the detection area or hitting the sensor.

(2) Moderate form factor: Generally speaking, the detection distance and volume of the inductive sensor are proportional. For a detection distance of 40mm, the square shell size of the 40*40mm detection surface is very suitable.

Inductive sensors have outstanding advantages such as simple structure, fast dynamic response, and easy non-contact measurement. At present, besides their wide application in the automated production line of the automotive industry, they are widely used in industries such as metallurgy, petroleum, and chemical engineering.
