Progress in X-ray detection of two-dimensional hybrid bimetallic perovskite in Fujian Institute of Materials

[ Instrument Network Instrument Development ] The lead-free bimetallic hybrid perovskite has the characteristics of non-toxicity, good stability and long carrier life, and has broad application prospects in the field of optoelectronics, especially high-energy X-ray detection. Compared to 3D hybrid perovskites, 2D hybrid perovskites have unique physical properties due to their reduced dimensionality. A typical two-dimensional multilayer lead-halogen perovskite is an example. Structurally, this 2D hybrid perovskite exhibits unique compatibility and adjustability; the electronic, optical, and optoelectronic properties of the material can be modulated by modulating organic and inorganic components. However, up to now, 2D hybrid bimetallic perovskites containing trivalent cations (such as Bi3+ or Sb3+) are still very rare, and research on their related optoelectronic properties is also very scarce.
Researcher Luo Junhua, State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry, Fujian Institute of Physical and Cultural Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Outstanding Youth Fund, the Strategic Pilot Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Outstanding Youth Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, chaired by Sun Zhihua The team collaborated with Professor Xu Yadong of Northwestern Polytechnical University to synthesize a hybrid bimetallic perovskite crystal [CH3(CH2)3NH3]2CsAgBiBr7 with a unique two-dimensional quantum enthalpy structure.
This compound exhibits a large carrier mobility-life value (μτ = 1.21 × 10 -3 cm 2 V-1), which is the first time to achieve a large μτ value in a two-dimensional hybrid bimetallic perovskite. In addition, the crystal exhibits other advantages including high resistivity, low defect density, and a large X-ray attenuation coefficient.
Based on these characteristics, the crystal device exhibits good X-ray detection sensitivity (4.2 μC Gyair-1 cm-2). This work shows that the two-dimensional hybrid bimetallic perovskite has great potential in X-ray detection and has developed its application in optoelectronics.
