Continental AG, a leading German automotive supplier, is expanding its presence in Asia by establishing localized production of piezoelectric diesel injectors and high-pressure pumps at its new facility in Amata, Thailand. This strategic move aims to better serve the growing demand for diesel components across the region. The products manufactured at the Thai plant will be distributed across China, India, and Europe, where they will be used in both passenger and light commercial diesel vehicles. The facility, which represents an investment of 5 billion baht (approximately 100 million euros), spans 50,000 square meters and has an annual production capacity of 500,000 high-pressure pumps and 2.5 million injectors. Rainer Doerrheide, General Manager of Amata City, a major automotive company in Thailand, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting Asian automakers with sustainable and cost-effective solutions. "Our goal is to localize the entire value chain within Asia, including research and development, procurement, and manufacturing," he said. "This approach not only strengthens our competitive edge but also ensures we can respond quickly to market needs." Located within a free trade zone, the Amata factory benefits from streamlined logistics and easy access to key markets. Parts can be efficiently exported to China through nearby customs checkpoints, making supply chain operations more seamless. Doerrheide added, "Logistics between Thailand and other Asian countries, like China, are highly efficient, allowing us to maintain a reliable and timely delivery system." With this expansion, Continental AG is reinforcing its long-term vision of strengthening its foothold in the Asian market while ensuring flexibility and responsiveness in an ever-evolving industry.
