Feeling the Apple Love – Autodesk Stays Committed to Meeting User Demand with New Mac and iPad Optimizations

Autodesk is excited to announce that AutoCAD 360 is now fully optimized for the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina Display. Powered by Apple’s new A7 chip, which features a 64-bit desktop-class architecture, users can expect a much smoother and more responsive experience when working with AutoCAD 360 on these devices. “We’re thrilled to be the first professional app ready for the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display,” said Jonathan Seroussi, Director of AutoCAD Web and Mobile at Autodesk. “Users will notice faster performance in tasks like rendering and model navigation—rendering times are twice as fast, making the whole experience more enjoyable.” Beyond improved rendering, opening drawings and selecting elements are also significantly faster—by up to two times. This makes AutoCAD 360 an even more powerful tool for mobile professionals. With over 5.5 million downloads on the App Store, more than 40 million uploaded drawings, and over a million active monthly users on iOS alone, AutoCAD 360 continues to be one of the most popular design apps on the market. The new optimization ensures that users can take full advantage of the latest iPad hardware. AutoCAD 360 for iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina Display is now available on the App Store.

This update reflects Autodesk’s ongoing commitment to delivering top-tier experiences on Apple platforms. In addition to optimizing AutoCAD 360, the company has already updated seven of its mobile apps to support iOS 7, including BIM 360 Field, BIM 360 Glue, Sketchbook Mobile, 123D Creature Show, InfraWorks mobile, and Pixlr.

AutoCAD 2014 for Mac Is Now Available!

To further strengthen its presence on macOS, Autodesk has released AutoCAD 2014 for Mac and AutoCAD LT 2014 for Mac. These versions are now available immediately and offer a range of improvements tailored to Mac users. The new release includes support for the Retina displays on the 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pro models, enhanced synchronization with Autodesk 360, and a variety of performance and UI improvements. AutoCAD 2014 for Mac is one of the first major CAD applications to fully embrace Retina display technology, offering a sharper and more detailed visual experience. “Mac users are passionate about their tools, and we’ve made sure to incorporate their feedback into this release,” said Amy Bunszel, Vice President of AutoCAD Products at Autodesk. “Customers will find the overall experience faster, cleaner, and more collaborative.” Key features in AutoCAD 2014 for Mac include:
  • Retina Display Support: Full support for high-resolution Retina displays improves clarity and usability across the entire interface.
  • Drawing Sync: Easily access and synchronize files between your computer and the cloud via Autodesk 360.
  • Package Drawing: Quickly collect related files into a compressed folder for sharing or storage, similar to eTransmit on Windows.
  • Online Help: Improved access to documentation and support resources.
  • Default Save-as Version: Set a default version for saving files directly from the settings.
  • Enhanced Security: Better protection against unauthorized or malicious AutoLISP applications.
