An automatic lubrication system (ALS), commonly known as a centralized lubrication system, is designed to deliver precise amounts of lubricant to multiple points on a machine while it's in operation. These systems are typically fully automated, but even those requiring manual activation are still considered centralized lubrication systems. The system can be divided into two main categories, which often share many similar components.
Oil systems are primarily used for stationary equipment such as CNC machines, while grease systems are more common in mobile applications like trucks, mining, and construction equipment.
A standard system includes a controller/timer, pump with reservoir, supply lines, distributors/metering valves, and feed lines.
