Fatal House explosion in Mundelein, 1-2-15
This afternoon, emergency responders from Mundelein were dispatched to a house explosion located at 918 Killarney Pass Drive, which is just a short distance from Fire Station 1. When they arrived, they found a fully involved fire raging through a split-level home. The situation was both urgent and dangerous, with flames engulfing the structure.
According to reports from the Daily Herald, one individual has been confirmed dead following the explosion and subsequent fire that took place on the northern side of Mundelein around midday on Friday. Lake County Deputy Coroner Orlando Portillo stated that, besides the fatality, another person inside the house was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment.
