Working fire in Des Plaines, 6-24-20

This just in from Des Plaines: Firefighters were dispatched to 886 Webster Lane on a Wednesday afternoon after reports of a fire in an attached garage. When they arrived, crews were greeted by intense flames, prompting them to call for additional resources and upgrade their response to a full-scale fire operation. The fire seemed to be localized within the garage and the rooms directly above it, thankfully sparing the rest of the structure. Local Des Plaines units were joined by support from neighboring departments including Niles, Elk Grove Township, Mt. Prospect, and Park Ridge, working together to bring the situation under control. Attached are several photos taken by Larry Shapiro that capture the intensity of the scene. You can see the powerful streams of water being directed at the blaze, the determined faces of firefighters as they worked tirelessly to extinguish the flames, and the impressive array of equipment brought in to assist with the operation. One image shows a Des Plaines fire engine ready for action, while another captures the collaboration between multiple departments. There’s also a shot of a Niles tower ladder in action, highlighting the coordinated efforts needed to manage such incidents. Additional photos provide a closer look at the affected area, giving a sense of the damage caused by the fire. As the community comes together to support those impacted, it's clear that the teamwork and dedication of these first responders made all the difference in containing the situation quickly and efficiently.
