Garage fire in Crystal Lake 11-22-12

Thanksgiving Day turned into quite an ordeal for the Ring family in Crystal Lake when a fire broke out in their garage due to a deep fryer. As Jon Ring was preparing to fry a turkey for the holiday meal, something went awry, and flames quickly spread. His wife, Kim Ring, recounted the harrowing experience. She noticed the smoke and immediately realized the garage was on fire. Rushing inside, she shouted for everyone to evacuate. Jon Ring, who had been deep frying turkeys for over 15 years, couldn’t have anticipated this disaster on such a significant day. The couple's home, located at 707 Windsor Drive, narrowly escaped severe damage, but the garage took the brunt of it. According to the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department, the estimated cost of the damage reached around $80,000 due to heat, smoke, and water used to extinguish the blaze. Fortunately, help arrived swiftly, with fire departments from McHenry Township and Woodstock providing additional support. For more details on the incident, you can read the full article [here](#).
