Barrington 2nd & 4th Alarm fire 10-10-12 (update 2)

Larry Shapiro captured a series of powerful images from the large barn fire that took place on Ridge Road in Barrington Hills on April 11. These photos offer a compelling visual account of the incident, showing the scale of the blaze and the efforts made by emergency responders to contain it. The first image shows the view from Ridge Road as Larry arrived at the scene, capturing the intensity of the fire from a distance. Another photo highlights the portable water tanks positioned along the road, serving as a critical resource for firefighting operations. A third image features a Crystal Lake fire truck filling one of these tanks, illustrating the coordination between different departments. Barrington Engine 361 is seen drafting water from the portable tanks, while a long line of large-diameter hose stretches over 1,000 feet from the road to the burning structure. Barrington Quint 363 is shown with multiple lines deployed, emphasizing the complexity of the operation. As the fire spread, it consumed the entire length of the building, and one of the structures on the property was fully involved. Firefighters from the Carpentersville Fire District were seen working in the 'C' sector, while those from Elgin responded with Truck 1. The Wauconda Fire District had a tanker on standby in the water supply area. A final image shows the apparatus staging on both sides of Ridge Road, highlighting the extensive traffic control measures in place. Larry Shapiro’s collection provides a detailed look at the response to this significant fire event. A full gallery of images is available [here](#), and additional photos can be found [here](#).
