Jiangshan Chemical announced on July 4 that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Ningbo Jiangning Chemical Co., Ltd., plans to invest in the construction of an annual output of 90,000 tons of n-butane. According to the announcement, Jiangning Chemical invested in the construction of an 80,000-ton/year maleic anhydride and derivative integration project in the Ningbo Petrochemical Economic and Technological Development Zone. The current project construction is progressing in an orderly manner as planned. As the maleic anhydride project needs about 9 million tons of n-butane raw material, in order to ensure the raw material supply and quality of the maleic anhydride project, Jiangning Chemical intends to use the self-built n-butane plant to comprehensively utilize the by-product steam from the LPG and maleic anhydride projects. The total investment of the project submitted for approval is 140 million yuan, and the technology of hydrogenation after the first distillation is adopted. The construction period is 12 months, and it is expected that the test can be started in the first half of 2013.
