At the 2013 Nanjing Boat Show, Shanghai Dongxin Software Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., introduced the self-developed shipbuilding CAD/CAM integrated design software – Ship Product 3D Design System (SPD). In the final version of V4.0, many customers showed great interest in this and put forward the requirements for trial use.
According to reports, Dongxin Software SPD V4.0 was first released in August last year. Since then, Dongxin Software has refined it and confirmed the final version. Compared with the previous version, the proposed SPD V4.0 not only has comprehensive performance enhancement, especially the addition of welding plan and shipbuilding precision module, and truss structure design module for marine engineering and steel structure products, etc. Seamless integration with Product Data Management System (PDM) and Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP)/Shipbuilding Enterprise Management System (SEM), software openness has also been significantly improved, which can further help shipbuilding companies improve ship design efficiency and Quality, reducing ship design costs, and laying a more solid technical foundation for shipbuilding enterprises to implement digital shipbuilding. Taking the precision shipbuilding module as an example, the shipbuilding intensive data platform established by Hudong Zhonghua using this software has been implemented in 10 departments throughout the company, and 97 clients have been established, which are applied to more than 10,000 segments of 88 ships. Not only has the company's segmented manufacturing quality been significantly improved, the rate of tool change has been greatly reduced, and the speed of the total group has been accelerated, which has also played an important role in ensuring that the company meets the new coating standards.
So far, Dongxin's own software SPD has more than 200 users, including about 100 customers in the Yangtze River Delta region. At the China Ship Show, the company has also received several new customers who have submitted trial requirements. During the exhibition, the company staff also visited a number of customers, most of them expressed their satisfaction with the use of SPD software.
