Kongsberg Maritime receives the first K-MATE order

K-MATE is Kongsberg's newest marine robot innovation, and as an automatic surface control system, it will be integrated with the new automatic surface boat SEA-KIT produced by Hushcraft in the UK.

The SEA-KIT is a rugged self-righting USV with a payload of up to 2.5 tons and is based on the unique AUV-USV concept for more efficient, safe and cost-effective underwater mapping.

Kongsberg's K-MATE automation controller software integrates into virtually any vessel through an electronic interface, provides adaptive points for survey operations and AUV operations, and receives sensor data for scene analysis and collision avoidance.

It is understood that K-MATE is a truly unmanned automation system that will be used in the unmanned automated ship delivered by Kongsberg. For example, the all-electric container ship submarine ship "YARA Birkeland", which was jointly developed by the Norwegian subsea business unit of Kongsberg and the Norwegian defense research institute FFI, has combined the results of several long-term joint research and development projects, including the HUGIN AUV system. In addition to the K-MATE automatic controller solution, SEA-KIT will also be equipped with Kongsberg's Maritime Broadband Radio (MBR), AIS300 automatic positioning system, etc., and Kongsberg's HiPAP echolocation and control system will also be used to monitor AUV operations.

SEA-KIT's AUV-USV dual system configuration will have unique capabilities, the hull design has different loads, and the endurance is also increased. It is the first unmanned ship capable of cross-ocean investigation.
